This recipe is part of M³: Motivation • Movement • Meal Prep with Charlotte Blais of Blue Chip Maintenance, where the goal is to make healthier choices practical, enjoyable, and easier to maintain.

Why This Meal Works

A balanced meal doesn't need to be complicated.

This recipe combines three important pieces in one bowl:

  • Lean protein from sirloin steak
  • Colorful vegetables including broccoli, zucchini, peppers, onions, and snow peas
  • A satisfying complex carbohydrate from quinoa

The sesame oil, coconut aminos, and soy sauce bring everything together with savory flavor without requiring a long list of ingredients.

It's also easy to customize depending on what you have available.

Steak Stir Fry with Quinoa

Ingredients

  • 1 lb sirloin steak, sliced into strips
  • ½ red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • ½ onion, sliced
  • 1 medium zucchini, sliced
  • ½ bag snow peas, about 4 oz
  • 1 cup dry quinoa
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp coconut aminos
  • A few dashes of soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Directions

  1. Cook the quinoa:
Prepare the quinoa according to the package directions and set aside.
  2. Heat the pan:
Add the sesame oil to a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Cook the steak:
Season the steak strips with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Sear for about 2-3 minutes, or until browned. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
  4. Cook the vegetables:
Add the onion, red bell pepper, broccoli, zucchini, and snow peas to the same pan. Stir-fry for about 5-7 minutes, keeping the vegetables slightly crisp.
  5. Bring everything together:
Return the steak to the pan. Add the coconut aminos and a few dashes of soy sauce. Toss everything together and cook for another 1-2 minutes.
  6. Serve:
Spoon the stir fry over the cooked quinoa and serve warm.

Estimated Nutrition

These numbers are estimates and can vary depending on the exact ingredients and portion sizes used.

A Great Option for Meal Prep

This stir fry works especially well for meal prep because each serving already includes protein, vegetables, and a carbohydrate.

Divide the cooked quinoa and stir fry into individual containers and you have several ready-to-go meals for the week.

You can also easily change the vegetables depending on what you have on hand. Mushrooms, carrots, green beans, or additional peppers can all work well.

If you prefer a lower-carbohydrate option, you can reduce the quinoa portion or replace some of it with cauliflower rice.

Healthy Meals Can Still Be Full of Flavor

Eating with your goals in mind doesn't mean every meal has to feel plain or restrictive.

Meals like this one show how simple ingredients can come together to create something colorful, flavorful, and satisfying.

The key is finding combinations you genuinely enjoy and can realistically make again.

🥩 Protein + vegetables + a satisfying base = a simple formula for a balanced meal.
