Savory Cheeseburger Pie

If you love the flavor of a cheeseburger but want something simple, protein-packed, and meal-prep friendly, this recipe is a winner. It's hearty, customizable, and comes together quickly with ingredients you probably already have on hand.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 deep-dish pie crust
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¾ cup liquid egg whites
  • 1½ tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • Optional: hot sauce to taste

Optional Add-Ins

  • Diced tomatoes
  • Bell peppers
  • Pickles
  • Spinach
  • Kale
  • Mushrooms

Anything you'd enjoy on a cheeseburger works great in this pie!

Directions

  1. Pre-bake the crust according to the package directions.
  2. Cook the beef mixture.
    • In a large skillet, brown the ground beef and chopped onion together.
    • Drain excess grease if needed.
    • Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Prepare the egg mixture.
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, egg whites, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and hot sauce (if using).
    • Stir in your chopped vegetables and other desired toppings.
  4. Assemble the pie.
    • Add the beef and onion mixture to the pre-baked pie crust.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
    • Pour the egg mixture evenly over the top.
  5. Bake.
    • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes, or until the center is fully set.
  6. Check for doneness.
    • Insert a toothpick into the center; if it comes out clean, it's ready.
    • You can also gently tap the center—if it feels firm and doesn't jiggle, it's done.
