Boom is expanding its role in property management technology following a $15 million Series A funding round and the launch of BoomCRM, a new leasing platform designed around AI and rental underwriting intelligence.
The funding round was led by S3 Ventures, with participation from Mischief VC and existing investors Starting Line VC, Gilgamesh Ventures, and Company Ventures.
From Screening to the Full Leasing Journey
Boom has already established a significant footprint through its tenant screening technology. According to the company, its screening platform supports more than 400 property management operators representing over 500,000 rental units.
BoomCRM takes that foundation further by bringing prospect engagement, qualification, tour scheduling, and screening into a more connected leasing workflow.
Instead of adding screening to a traditional CRM after the fact, Boom says its system was developed around the qualification process from the beginning. This allows information collected earlier in the renter journey, including identity and pre-screening data, to move into the application process without requiring renters or property managers to repeatedly enter the same information.
Built for Distributed Rental Portfolios
One of BoomCRM's key areas of focus is the operational complexity of single-family rental and manufactured housing portfolios.
Traditional leasing systems are often designed around multifamily communities where leasing teams operate from a centralized property. Single-family rental operators, however, may manage homes across multiple neighborhoods, markets, and ownership groups.
BoomCRM is designed with that distributed model in mind. Its capabilities include AI-powered call handling, lead qualification, self-showing support, and tour scheduling that accounts for factors such as an agent's location and travel time.
The company also emphasizes system connectivity, offering API access so property managers can move information between Boom and other technology platforms in their existing stack.
AI Is Becoming Part of the Leasing Team
Boom's announcement also reflects a larger shift happening across property management: AI is moving beyond basic chatbots and into day-to-day leasing operations.
The company's AI Leasing Agent can respond to prospective renters, help determine whether a lead meets qualification requirements, and schedule tours. For operators, the goal is to reduce time spent handling repetitive calls and follow-ups so leasing teams can concentrate on qualified prospects and resident conversion.
Boom shared an example from Endeavor Communities, where its AI leasing technology reportedly handled nearly 200 calls during one month, including calls that came in outside normal business hours. The company said this returned more than 75 hours of time to the property's team.
What the $15 Million Investment Signals
The Series A gives Boom additional resources to develop a platform that now stretches across multiple stages of the leasing process.
More importantly, the announcement highlights where rental technology may be heading. Property managers are increasingly looking for systems that do more than store leads or maintain records. They want technology that can respond, qualify, automate, and help teams make decisions faster.
For single-family rental and manufactured housing operators in particular, that means technology designed around geographically dispersed portfolios rather than systems adapted from traditional multifamily or general-purpose sales CRMs.
With BoomCRM, Boom is betting that the competitive advantage in AI-powered leasing won't simply come from answering a prospect's question. It will come from combining those interactions with the data and intelligence needed to understand which prospects are most likely to become qualified residents.
